Product Comparison

What's the Difference?

Start with the roof style you want, then compare the package markings and installation requirements behind each rating.

How long should these shingles last?

GAF does not publish a product-specific expected lifespan for these shingles. “Lifetime” describes the limited warranty term, not a guarantee of how many years the roof will last. Installation, ventilation, exposure, maintenance, and storm damage all affect service life.

Questions About GAF

Which GAF shingle is a good starting point?

Timberline HDZ suits many steep-slope homes. A low-slope section can call for Liberty, while another shingle line may better suit the look you want.

Are GAF Timberline Steel shingles available for my roof?

We verify availability, pricing, and certification requirements during the estimate. Timberline Steel is listed only after those details are confirmed.

Does every GAF roof qualify for the same warranty?

No. The roof assembly and GAF terms determine eligibility. Your paperwork will state the available registration.
